Looking all the way down the hallway from the front door to the back of the house. Imagine a water feature right at the end to which your eye is automatically drawn. The hallway looks narrow and straight, but it is quite wide. There are different widths as you walk though it - set backs for door and window openings as well as for feature paintings and sculptures.
